The Ancient Greek palindrome Νίψον ἀνομήματα, μὴ μόναν ὄψιν (Nipson anomemata me monan opsin) meaning "Wash the sins, not only the face" was inscribed outside Hagia Sophia cathedral and is found near baptismal fonts in many churches.
