ETYMOLOGY:
From French prodrome (forerunner), from Latin prodromus, from Ancient Greek
prodromos, from pro- (before) + dromos (running), which also gave us
syndrome, hippodrome,
and palindrome. Earliest
documented use: 1611.
USAGE:
