MEANING:
adjective: Having high value and reliability.
noun: A reliable and highly valuable asset, such as a stock, a company, etc.

ETYMOLOGY:
In poker (and other gambling games), a blue chip typically represents high value. Earliest documented use: 1873.

USAGE:
