   Hungry; greedy. ETYMOLOGY:From Latin esurire (to be hungry), from edere (to eat). Ultimately from
the Indo-European root ed- (to eat, to bite) that has also given us edible,
comestible, obese, etch, fret,
edacious,
prandial, and
