noun: An ugly, repulsive, or terrifying woman.
ETYMOLOGY:
After Gorgon, any of the three monstrous sisters Stheno, Euryale, and
Medusa in Greek mythology, who had snakes for hair. They turned into
stone anyone who looked into their eyes. From Greek gorgos (dreadful).
