MEANING:
verb tr.:
To cloud over, obscure, or darken.
ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin obnubilare (to darken or obscure), from ob- (in the way) +
nubilare (to be cloudy), from nubes (cloud). The word nuance is also
a derivative of nubes.
USAGE:
